STATUS: COMPLETED

CLUSTERIX (National CLUSTER of LInuX systems) – a targeted research project of Polish computing centres, The project concerned the development of production environment of Grid type, consisting of homogeneous, local clusters, based on IA-64 architecture, located in a number of geographically remote sites.
The aim of the project was to prepare a system that allows the management and sharing of computing resources, support for dynamically changing size and configuration of hardware infrastructure (with the possibility of temporary addition of other clusters), as well as the use of services offered by other projects created in the works associated with the PIONIER programme. Tasks:
  1. Development of CLUSTERIX grid architecture with reference to specific user requirements
  2. Construction of a computing installation
  3. Data management
  4. Procedures for adding a local cluster of any architecture (64- or 32-bit)
  5. Integration of the broker into the task management system
  6. Implementation of user account management in a distributed environment
  7. Security mechanisms in the cluster
  8. Network resource management
  9. Monitoring
  10. Development of user and administrator interface (text, graphic, portal)
  11. Development of tools for automatic installation and configuration changes on all nodes within the entire cluster
  12. Use of IPv6
  13. Dynamic load balancing, checkpoint mechanism
  14. Dostosowanie aplikacji
  15. New test applications.
WCSS was involved in a number of tasks, including „Integration of the broker in the task management system” and „Security mechanisms in the cluster”.
